Off Shore Wind Network Event - Whitby Pavilion

23rd July 2010

Wind Farm industry related opportunities and membership of the newly formed Whitby and Scarborough Off Shore Wind Network.

The UK Government are currently progressing plans to establish significant wind farms off the North East Coast of England; 2,500 wind turbines over an area in excess of 8500km2 at Dogger Bank. Whitby is the closest port to Dogger Bank, some 197km from shore. There are tremendous business development opportunities that can be gained from these investments with the potential to create new businesses and jobs in the Borough of Scarborough and surrounding areas. Scarborough Borough Council wishes to raise awareness within the Wind Farm industry of the opportunities offered by the ports of Whitby and Scarborough to service the business and to demonstrate to the industry that the Borough has the capability to provide a comprehensive range of services.
